Intel family of processors?
Top of line for desktops is the 3.2gHz QX9770. At stock speed, it should perform comparably with the same clocked quad Xeon. However, QX9770 has unlocked upper multipliers. It can be easily overclocked on most enthusiast or gaming boards. Once overclocked to its full potential, it should be unbeatable.
